Robert Ross

Ross, son of a prosperous Troy businessman, was shot and killed while he was protecting a polling place from Irish-American voters alleged to be voting multiple times. Ross was mourned by his fiance and his upper class social circle, who raised money for his imposing statue at Oakwood, the base of which designates him as a “martyr.”
