Samuel “Uncle Sam” Wilson

Wilson, who served in the military, became a Troy meat packer, supplying the US Army with meat during the War of 1812. He stamped his shipments with a “US”, that gained him the moniker of "Uncle Sam", which became a symbol for the US.
