Russell Sage
Sage amassed a fortune and by 1906, was ranked 7th seventh richest American. Sage served as treasurer of Rensselaer County, alderman of Troy, delegate to the Whig National Convention , and was elected as a Whig to the 33rd Congress and was reelected to the 34th Congress as an Opposition Party candidate. He moved to NYC, becoming president and director of several railroads and financial institutions. Fearing grave robbers, he was buried in an unmarked mausoleum, in a steel casket equipped with an electric burglar alarm.
