Florence Adele Sloane Tobin

Florence was the the eldest daughter of William D. Sloane (the head of W & J Sloane) and Emily Thorn Vanderbilt, a granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt. She married James A. Burden, a member of H. Burden and Sons Iron Co. When the Duke of Windsor visited the US in 1924, the Burdens turned over their Syosset estate, Woodside Acres, to him. Widowed, Florence later married Richard M. Tobin, an American banker and diplomat.
