Edward Van Kleeck

Van Kleeck worked in his father’s brush business, one of the industry pioneers. At the inset of the Civil War, at age 17, he joined Company A, 2nd NY Infantry and was sent to Camp Hamilton, Va where he witnessed the historic battle between the Monitor and the Merrimac.

1843-1920
